The updated content is based on findings from the 2019–2020 Job Analysis and Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Study of Nurse Aides, published by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) in 2023.
Written Examination
- Total Questions: 70 multiple-choice items
- 60 scored items
- 10 pretest (non-scored) items

Oral Examination
- Two sections:
- 60 multiple-choice items
- 10 reading comprehension (word recognition) items
- You must pass both sections to pass the oral examination.
